Trail is a mess. The AJBW Weds. night ride got a lot of stuff cleared last night, but there's still a lot left to do, including at few big trees that will take a chainsaw. The vines make things very slow going when doing clean up work....

Impromptu work party at the Augusta Canal singletrack. Take a look at your shins and calves...if they aren't scratched, cut, scabbed, or otherwise disfigured you might not be doing enough trail work while riding your bike. If this is you, or your shins and calves want more, we will have an impromptu work party on Wednesday evening (03.05.14) to knock out more (all the remaining?) of the handsaw/lopper/clipper work at the Canal Singletrack. Meet between the pumphouse and railroad tracks, just off the towpath at 5:45PM. Bring your trusty red folding handsaw and/or loppers and bike light. Alternatively, you can ride out from Andy Jordan's Bicycle Warehouse with the Wednesday night crew at 6:30PM. Questions or need to borrow loppers? Email dave.sorbacsra@gmail.com. Be there or be square.

I cut out the large trees by the big ditch, the trail should be open all the way around.

Trail is in fantastic shape. Dry and dusty. A little loosey goosey in some corners thanks to lots of small sticks and whatnot down. But overall, it's great. Go get some. There's a tree down in one of the 'river' drops - it's a rider. DON'T CUT IT OUT! Yes, it's in a turn, at the bottom of a hill, and it's tricky, but it's 100% rideable both directions.

Canal trail is in EXCELLENT shape right now. I don't know if it's just getting lots of riders, or if someone actually raked/cleaned it off, but it's crazy good right now.

Rode the trail today. It is in excellent shape. A couple of sticky areas but that's all the hazards.

Come out for the AJBW Weds night ride and watch 75-80% of the people show that log who's boss, including at least one of the ladies. It's really not that bad, it's mostly a mental thing, it looks worse than it is. http://instagram.com/p/mTjuUmSpv0

Good times on the canal trail tonight! Trail is in great shape and several folks rode the log for the first time. Trent rode it on his CX bike on his commute home from work. Greg cleared it for the first time. I don't know who this guy is but he hardly hit the brakes on the way through. Kim came so close she could taste it Banks is a master of the logs Both Candace and Kim crashed on the log but got up to try it again and again. Video here: http://instagram.com/p/nJ76G7SpoS

Trail is in good shape for the most part. Kind of a jungle out there, lots of plant growth in places. Very dry and dusty last night, but fast. A few sandy corners, and a few trees down. One is a small rider that will be left down, the other two are coming out. There will be a route that will need to be cut sooner than later. The section by the creek that fell in a few months back, it keeps collapsing and more and more is falling off the hill, and it's right at the edge of the trail now, with a big hole on the edge. Another good rain storm will change it even more. It's just all sand there and with that tree no longer standing there's nothing to hold it all together. We'll have to move the trail 'inland' a good bit. A few of us rode this log last night. No one made it look pretty, but we did make it over and keep it rubberside down! This one will get cut out though.

There is a tree down blocking the trail. If you go counterclockwise, it is just before the trickle of water some might call a creek. Didn't see a easy hike a bike way around it (really bushy.

MONEY, it's good to see you man! We need to ride together sometime, been a long while! AJBW is offering a free tee shirt to whoever can get out there with a chainsaw and clear that tree before the demo day this weekend!
