The first FaRT is in the bag... Eighteen competitors stepped up to the SORBAcsra tent this morning to test their mettle against their predictions and the clock. Coin flips determined that the route would be Skinny clockwise and Brown Wave counterclockwise. By the end of the morning, we had a winner and over $120 folding money was in the donation jar (from competitors as well as other trail riders). Congratulations Mr. Sprouse, you put up the best FaRT today and get your choice of a Polar water bottle or a pair of socks. Mr. Sprouse put up a ride time that was only 5.9 seconds off his predicted time!!! Below are the participants, predictions, and times. A few pictures will follow. Thank you for your support. Below is Angela. Angela rode in the FaRT today. Word in the tent is that, while riding with her mechanic, something wasn't right. They stopped, checked over her ride, and decided the whole front brake had to go. They sent the removed part(s) ahead with another rider and she finished her FaRT. You can see her front brake lever, hose, AND caliper over her left shoulder, hanging under the tent. That's 3/4 of their dog, Hedy, in the foreground. Hedy was such a good girl while mommy and daddy were riding Over Angela's right shoulder, you can see Mr. Sprouse's choice of prizes for his outstanding prediction today. Checking in at the inaugural Predictor Series at FATS

Wow. Some impressive actual times in there; especially considering the sauna conditions.

FaRT #2 - Big Rock and Tower. Sunday, August 11th. 9:00AM - noon North trailhead parking lot
Sunday morning we will be set up in the north parking lot for FaRT #2-Big Rock and Tower. Two coin flips Sunday morning will determine the direction of travel. Bring your bike, predict your time, ride Big Rock/Tower, and see how close you came to your predicted time. Last week's winner will be hard to beat (Skinny/Brown Wave) with a time differential of 5.9 seconds. Best two time differentials out of 4 FaRTs wins the series and will be crowned Master Blaster at FATS.
Event is free to SORBAcrsa members and nonmembers, but donations are gladly accepted.
Note: FS661 (Philpot Road) took a beating from the rains in June and July. The approach from Deep Step Rd (traveling north on 661) is much better (i.e., only one deep rutted section near the top) than traveling south from Woodlawn Road. Either way, some creative driving will get you past the ruts or, if you must drive your lowrider, you can park near the bottom of FS661 and ride your bike up the north parking lot.

The second FaRT is in the bag. We had fourteen competitors riding Big Rock (cw) and Tower (ccw), testing their prediction against the clock, heat, and humidity. Using a bit of strategery, Dave K. patiently bided his time (no pun intended) and turned in a 12.1 second differential. Not in it for fame or fortune, Mr. K. declined his choice of water bottle or socks, so all three prizes carry forward to next week. For the series, two of four events completed, Mr. Troy Miller is our overall leader, rockin' a cumulative differential of 2 minutes and 51.6 seconds. Way to go Mr. Miller. The donation bucket was full again this morning, netting SORBAcsra $148.10 in folding money and coinage (the dime was from the coin toss that we won't use again). SORBAcsra also received a very generous donation by check today, bringing total donations received by SORBAcsra today to almost $500! Thank you for your support and we hope to see you next Saturday morning for FaRT #3 - the Great Wall.A few more pictures can be viewed on our Facebook Page - Facebook Album - FaRT #2Results of FaRT #2 - Big Rock and Tower Overall leader board - after completing two of four predictor events

***FaRT@FATS #3 - Great Wall is cancelled***
Unfortunately, it is too wet to FaRT@FATS. Weather permitting, we will move FaRT #3 - The Great Wall predictor to next Sunday, August 25th - 9:00AM to noon. At that time, we will determine interest in carrying the fourth predictor into September or finishing the inaugural series with three events.
See you on Sunday the 25th and thank you for your support.

Are ya getting farty this weekend? We hadn't planned on it because this is a holiday weekend and thought most folks would be going to ride out of town. If there is enough interest, we could cobble together a third and final FaRT this weekend - maybe Monday morning - Great Wall? What say you participants of the FaRT? We probably need a critical mass of 15 participants, so post here or on FB page if you are interested in a Labor Day FaRT@FATS. Thank you for your support.

Lots of folks must be out of town or have other plans this holiday weekend because we had minimal interest in a FaRT tomorrow morning. Therefore, we will officially conclude the inaugural FaRT@FATS Predictor Series.
Although we only ran two out of the four scheduled predictors, we had fun and raised over $260 in donations for SORBAcsra. Mr. Troy Miller was our overall leader after two events and is now the first official Master Blaster with a FaRT differential of 2 minutes and 56.1 seconds. We will have an informal award ceremony sometime in the near future.
Thank you for your interest, participation, a few excellent double entendres, and generous support.
