We were up at HKSP this weekend planning the second work party to repair Lakeview Loop. It will be a few weeks before we work out all the details and logistics of staging gravel/crusher run, distributing the gravel to key points on the trail, and moving material from those points to more distant sections of trail, so stay tuned for a work party date (we hope) in September or early October.
While we were out on Lakeview Loop, we noticed that some of the deeply rutted sections are less deeply rutted, but there are still other sections remain rutted, cupped, or bowl-shaped. These will be the sections we target with gravel/crusher run.
We were also impressed by how well the deberming and drain clearing from the June 1st work party held up through the 21" of rain in June and July. It is hard to appreciate all the work that was completed until you actually ride or hike the trail. Great job!
Lastly, thank you to the Drawdys for removing sixteen something trees during their last trip to HKSP.
All things considered, the trail is in great shape - so go ride it!
Thank you for your support.

Tentative plans to visit CSRA trails coming weekend +, 4-days riding. Can anyone offer a current (last week or so, if possible) condition report on Lakeview ? Thanks very much.
Ride plan is L.Cane, Modoc, Keg, Bartram, and HKSP - depending if Lakeview is even seeing tires anymore ?
Thanks, always enjoy visiting CSRA.

I just rode it today and other than 4 downed trees and heavy foliage on the ground it is in pretty good shape. I can post pictures of the downed trees once photobucket is back up. The trees are down at mile 2, 3, 3.25, and 4.25. All of them will need a saw to clear. If you are good at clearing logs you can probably make it over the ones at mile 2, 3, and 4. The trail is a bit hard to see in a few places due to the heavy leaves but it is blazed good enough so you shouldn't have problems.

Thanks for the update. Nice to hear. Will do our absolute best to get out soon and take care of these. Maybe a weekend of golfing/cycling/chainsawing in December. Just needs to be nice enough to drag out the 5th wheel!

Several of us rode HK yesterday. Great shape; only a few non riders. Still very heavy leaf cover though. Good for the blue blazes! Needs some riders on it.
