Whew! Canal Crown #1 is done! GREAT turnout tonight, 19 racers total. We also had 5 people sign up for an IMBA-SORBA membership. Very cool.
Somethings weren't perfect however. We made a mistake on the awards in the beginner class. We had lots of first timers, and many mistakenly signed up for the wrong class. The fastest Sport class riders tonight would have made the Expert podium at many of the races last year!
That said, WOW, there were some fast folks tonight! Lots of mid 12's and lower, with three racers dipping into the 11's, and a new course record! The new Expert course is longer and more difficult than last year, and there was still a new record set!
In the beginner class we made a mistake when handing out awards, because we split the group up, and one rider was on a different timing sheet than the others, and was overlooked when determining placing.
So, John Pilcher actually tied Michael Dunn for 2nd/3rd. Sorry about the mix up
Big thanks to Daniel and Angela Allen for coming out and volunteering. They helped out with registration and were our course marshalls out on the trail - THANK YOU!
Also, of course, thanks to all the racers that came out! It was great seeing so many new people giving racing a try.
Now, on to the results. Riders with an * next to their time will be bumped up a class for the rest of the series. We'll be using last years times as a baseline. Bascially, 12's and faster are experts, 13's are sport, and 14's and up are beginners.
Please let me know if I made a typo with a name so I can correct it.
