This month's Explore the Trail Ride will be at Modoc (Steven's Creek) trail and start at 10am. This trail is suitable for fit novice riders but contains some trail features that will delight those who crave a little more challenge - three creek crossings, switchbacks, etc.
It is just under 6 miles long (just under 12 total for the ride) - and is an in/out trail so you can ride any part of it. The terrain is beautiful and rolling making it a popular hiking trail as well.
Coming from Augusta, follow Fury's Ferry Road/28 into South Carolina - once across the bridge in about 15 minutes you will reach hiway 23 in Modoc, SC - turn right and travel about a mile - just before the bridge the trailhead and parking lot are on the left.
We will have riders riding sweep so no one will be left behind - if you haven't ridden this trail come on out. You don't have to be a member of SORBA-CSRA to participate and as always bring friends!
This trail is scheduled to be burned sometime in the near future so watch the forum before heading out (burns get scheduled and often occur at the last minute when the weather/conditions are deemed perfect so often occur with only a moments notice).
The ride is this Saturday, May 5th, and this is one of the best trails in the CSRA! If you haven't ridden it yet, you have no idea what you're missing. I'm hoping to make it out, but not positive yet.
I'm in! Haven't been out to Modoc in too long, looking forward to it. Lots of good pictures in this thread here, and some pics and videos from last year's skills clinic here.
Only had 8 of us at the ETTR at Modoc but all good friends so was fun anyway! It's bests when about 30 people show up for these ETTRs and you can share a trail with others who have not ridden it before!
At any rate, was a blast watching Banks, David, Dustin and Jon coming down the rock - they make it look very easy (and no it isn't on my bucket list!)

Interesting to watch 4 people ride down different parts of the rock; Banks down the middle, me to the left a bit, Dustin to the right a bit, and Jon way left. Must not be a bad spot on the whole rock.
Good job JT, you made it look easy on a 26" bike.
Thanks Angela!
Do you enjoy our trails?
If so, can you volunteer 4 hours for trail work in 2013 or, if you're too busy, donate $40 to SORBAcsra?
