EMS Drill - February 25th - Volunteers Needed

Joey Smith with Merriwether EMS contacted us about an EMS drill at FATS.

The drill will be Saturday Feb 25, 2012 starting at 11:00am. The staging area will be partially in the FATS parking lot and around the bathroom and water pump area at the trail head. He said they are only allowed to go 300 feet into the woods during the drill. They will also stage in the field across from FATS trail head.

They are looking for volunteers for the drill. He did not give specific details, just that the volunteers needs to contact him before Feb. 25. Joey's cell phone is 706-799-5911.

Please call him and volunteer if you have some time on that day, these practice drills will help them when they have to extract riders/hikers off the FATS trails!

Doesn't look like they will. I talked to a Merriwrther firefighter at work today while it was storming who asked if I wanted to help out. I'm already on shift tomorrow, so I can't help out, but told him it's gonna be a mess, but he talked as if everything was continuing as planned no matter what the weather.

But it sounds like they are mostly going to be around the parking area, bathrooms and pump area.........if they can only go 300 feet into the woods......
