Dont have reports on all the trails yet but know there is a big one down CCW on Great Wall on the downhill section not far from the start of the trail.
Big Rock - lots of trees down with the largest being about .5 in going CCW.
Expecting more reports and we'll get them posted as they come in - or hopefully people will post them here!

Tower - lots of trees and limbs down on this trail.
Clean up might take a while - our sawyers just had their recertification or certification training and are at varying stages along the way of receiving their cards!

This is very tentative, we are waiting to get the cert cards from the USFS for our certified sawyers (at least two or three of them should be ready to go just need the card in hand). If they arrive in the mail this week, we will probably set something up for next weekend and try to hit Big Rock/Tower. We will need spotters but it also sounds like we will need people with rakes to clear debris off the trail as well. Just putting it out there in case we can get this set up, more to come! More rain on the forecast for today but a member has cleared Brown Wave and Skinny of debris and small trees (a larger one is down CW from the BW/lower Skinny connector). We will be doing some work this weekend out on the trails the day dependent upon weather conditions. We'll post as soon as we have details but we know we will have two sawyers in the woods, will need some additional volunteers to help clear debris on Big Rock and Tower. Stay tuned!

We currently only have two certified sawyers to work on FATS right now so not sure how much work we'll get done over the weekend, there are over 20 trees down scattered mainly on GW (8 chainsaw size), 3 at last report on Deep Step, 1 on Skinny, 1 on connector between DP and GW, and then not sure of the final count on BR/Tower but best guestimate based on reports is there are between 8 and 10 on those trails. Big Rock and Tower needed some trail clean-up due to debris, that will involve rakes, loppers and handsaws. We'll need a spotter/swamper for the sawyer. If we have some people willing to walk in on Saturday morning let me know and we'll figure out how much we can get done and how to drop the volunteers into the trail to get the most done. Sunday morning we will be hitting the southern trails - not sure what all needs to be handled on those trails, probably rake. lopper and hand saw work again and a spotter/swamper for the sawyer. If you can help with either of these work efforts, just email me at sorba.csra@gmail.com

I'll get an email out shortly looks like we have about 5 people for Sunday right now will know more by tomorrow. There are 13 trees down that we know of on the southern loops and we might do a little more clean up that was not finished at the last party if we are able!

Removed over 15 trees on Big Rock/Tower this morning and did some trail clearing and maintenance on Big Rock. Overall trail conditions were pretty good with just a few mucky spots! We will have a work party at FATS south trailhead tomorrow morning. Will tackle the 13+ trees that are down and try to finish up the trailwork on Skinny that remained after the DR went down at the last work party. We should have enough people now to get the work done. We will have a work party tent up in the parking lot stop by and see us! Well have FATS stickers available and information on membership. A few bike tools if you need to borrow a wrench or pump up a tire. Stop by and say hi and have a sports drink on us!

Great work party today (except for the heat and humidity). Will post more details and pics in a while ....basically the following was accomplished:
Great Wall - 8 trees removed Deep Step - 4 trees removed Connector to northern loops - 4 trees removed Connector from south parking lot - 1 tree removed Brown Wave - unfinished hedging work completed Skinny - unfinished DR work completed
There is a tree still down on lower Skinny but it is flat on the ground and enough of a rider that it will be removed another time! Thanks so much to all the volunteers who turned out and for all the people who stopped by the tent to say hi, have a sports drink, buy a FATS sticker or join SORBA-CSRA (we have two new members!).

Work parties removed over 30 trees over the weekend on FATS - hopefully we'll have a break for a while with the weather. Thanks to Daniel and Phil for all the chainsaw action this weekend. I think they are both temporarily retired from chainsaw duty but we do have 7 more sawyers who should be up and running with their cert cards shortly! A few pics from the work party on Sunday are under the workparty topic above. Thanks to all the other volunteers who devoted their time this weekend. Many of these people stepped up both days!

Rode Big Rock just before dusk tonight - no trees down and the trail was in good condition. A few seeps here and there, one or two places that need some work, and a few soft spots but the trail was fast and fun tonight! Someone reported riding Tower a couple of days ago and said there were no trees down then!

Deep Step good today .....a few slighly mushy areas, some need some maintenance. Only one small nuisance tree down at a little past the 3 mile mark going CCW. Temps were good, humidity was awful!

The cell that unleashed rain, wind and debris in Martinez and Evans in the early evening hours did not make its way to FATS, the trails there with the exception of a few seepy spots are just fine!

Actually there are four more trees down on Big Rock and Tower as of last Saturday. Soft spots from seeps will continue unless the drains are cleaned properly and completely.

Sorry wasn't trying to say the trails are all clear just saying that large violent cell that hit Martinez and part of Evans did not unleash a bunch of rain onto FATS.
There is a lot of work that will need to be done, probably in the fall when it cools off some. Erosion needs to be addressed in quite a few areas, deberming needs to be done on all trails so those areas will quit holding water, etc.
The seeps I was talking about happen when the water table is high and sometimes you will see clear water running down or across the trails. It generally self-corrects as soon as the water table dips back down some!

We took out the tree off the lower Skinny that was about 1/2 mile in from the intersection of Brown Wave cutoff and lower Skinny.
Planned to take out the leaner on upper Skinny that is a bit of a head thumper if you don't duck far enough and the nuisance tree down about 1/2 mile from the first road crossing going CW on Deep Step but we had the little chainsaw with us today and it was being very unruly!
Reports coming in there is a small tree down on Big Rock and then two non-riders on Tower as of this morning!

Rode Big Rock and Tower today, took out one of the trees on Tower that could be done with a hand saw. Before After This one is left on Tower because it will take a chainsaw but it is pretty close to the actual tower on Tower trail so will be easy to get in and take out now that we know where it is! There was a small tree down on Big Rock but someone had managed to get it off the trail!

We got the one off BR yesterday before you got there but we didn't have a saw for the one you cut. Can't wait to get rid of that widow maker. It's annoying.
