Top of Skinny and Brown Wave were in great shape this evening but report on the Tower and Big Rock is a ride there was abandoned because they had obviously received a lot of rain, enough to make the riders discontinue their ride. Deep Step was good as was the connector. Report on Lower Skinny is that is was a bit damp.
Chance of rain tomorrow is great than 50% but in case that does not happen wanted an accurate trail report in case people ride tomorrow!
I personally would ride elsewhere today. In a few weeks when the trees all have their leaves it will dry out faster. I was over by Sportsman Corner yesterday around 5-6pm and it was pouring. Pretty sure FATS received the same treatment during that time. That coupled with the inch+ from Friday to Saturday afternoon...........
Sorry just arrived home and saw the post. Most of our older trails would have been good to go today. FATS being the newest is still settling in and it gets a lot more wheels than any of our other trails.
Talked to someone who rode out at Bartram today and except for a few seeps that are going to be there for a while it was all good. So other than the 36 miles at FATS there was over 100 miles of trail that would have been great for a ride today!
It started raining just before midnight last night and rained for a couple of hours. Trails will more than likely be too wet to ride today! Only saying more than likely because sometimes rain can be very localized this time of year and we live about 15 minutes from FATS.
There is now a Twitter feed on the main webpage to keep riders up to date on changing conditions out at FATS - sign up and receive the tweets or just keep an eye out to keep up to date on trail conditions!
Great idea to have a Twitter account for FATS updates, but why limit it to just FATS? Can there be a SORBA-CSRA account to announce all important news?
I haven't been participating on the forums and only look at it once or twice a week as do other people. With Twitter, I can receive only the important information as opposed to having to read through discussions.
If it's a place that people can come to for better/more frequent updates, then why not report all trail conditions if they need to be reported?
Once again, one of the better ideas to come along!
Also, if it keeps the info flowing and avoids all the opinions that follow comments, then I believe it will be more effective.
The FATSUpdate twitter account was actually Seenvic's great idea. The idea was to keep it separate from our main Twitter account which is sorbacsra (about midway down on your newsletter is the Twitter icon and you access it right there).
The FATSUpdate will allow people coming to our area keep up to date on FATS status without having to hear about every ride, workparty and event.
I think it would be extremely hard to keep Twitter updated with other trail information since it really takes all our forum readers/riders to keep an eye out for the whole 150 miles of trail in this area and report in what they are seeing. The main Twitter account we report upcoming rides, events, etc.
We also have a Facebook page as well - I think the Facebook and Twitter account have been up for just over a year now.
We will be heading out to take the trees that are down off the following loops in just a few minutes (so we don't have overlap in case another sawyer decides the same thing - Big Rock, Deep Step and Brown Wave. Will also check trail conditions in a couple of spots.
Just as a reminder to everyone - Skinny and Great Wall stay wet the longest!
