WHAT: 3rd Annual Moonlight Time Trial
WHEN: January18th 20th
WHERE: Augusta Canal Singletrack - meet at the main trailhead at the base of the stairs
WHAT TIME: Registration starts at 6:30pm, first racer off the line at 7:00pm
HOW MUCH: FREE!
WHY: Fun in the dark
We’re making a few tweaks to the MLTT this year. Just one race date instead of two. Every year we end up postponing one of the dates at least once, so we’re going to keep it simple and just have one race.
In the event of rain the race will get pushed back a week - updates will be posted on the SORBA-CSRA forum, on this thread, in the first post, or you can call Drew at the shop. If the race is postponed it will be announced no later than 4:00pm on race day.
No entry fee this year. The signage is up, there’s no real awards, so no reason for us to take your money.
We’ll do two laps, one each direction. We will NOT use Razor’s Edge – everyone will race the Beginner/Sport Canal Crown course, including the stairs. Times will be added together to determine the winners. You can even only do one lap if you want. But the only way to stand atop the prestigious railroad tie podium is to do two.
We’ll provide the bonfire and marshmallows, you bring your own beverage.
Costumes:
Last year if you wore a winter themed costume you could earn a time bonus, and it was pretty fun. Between Santa, Buddy, a cargo-bike-racing Deflated Snowman, and Cousin Eddy, good times and lots of laughs were had by everyone. So we’re doing it again this year, except you can wear any type of costume, not just winter themed. More creative/elaborate costumes earn more of a time bonus. You gotta commit though and put some real effort into it, if we feel your costume doesn’t cut it, you get no time bonus, and end up looking goofy for no reason.
This is a laid back race, catering to everyone and anyone that rides a knobby tired bike, not just hardcore racers. It's really just an excuse to ride and hang out. It’s family friendly, so feel free to bring the kids and the dog.
Come check it out, it’s a ton of fun. Guaranteed!
Any questions?
