That was a boatload of fun. The weather was just 100% perfect, never got hot on the bike, wore a jacket around the pit most of the day. Perfect. We ended up in 3rd and were happy with that. We had a close race for 3rd most of the day against mosovich's team, at one point they even passed us. We started doing two laps per turn, which I think hurt us. We eventually switched to one at a time and it was better. We finished 18 laps, six a piece, with a fastest lap of 39:something and a slowest of just under 47. Not a bad spread considering. I was surprised at how the darkness didn't effect our lap times all that much. Thanks to everyone who helped put on the race. Having the timing professionally done was the way to go. It's expensive, but worth every penny IMO. Pics! Post 'em up if ya got them, I saw a lot of cameras out there. A bunch more, including all the podium pics, can be found HERE.

I do like a team that comes prepared to get their pint glasses. Props to all for a well-organized and fun event. My team mate, my kid and I all had a great time.

vimeo.com/nikedog/bakersdozenDon't laugh, all i had was Muzak, the new iPhone, and limited cameo actors......my Porties were the stars just kidding. One thing I noticed is how the mountain bike community seemed so much more fun than the road and triathlon crowd....Will somebody teach me to ride one of those bikes with big tires like Phil Cohen had Enjoyed myself; even though I arrived by mistake; Fats closed.

Thanks for sharing - you captured the essence of the event well! The initial run from 2003 through 2007 were great but it takes a lot of behind the scenes work to put on an event like this...........2008 was essentially rain out on both days and it was time for a break. Hopefully this will be the start of another successful run, this event is fun as a volunteer or a participant! The people who participate as riders or volunteers are such a great bunch of people (always willing to help each other, encourage each other and just extremely friendly) it makes me happy to be a mountain biker and know or meet all these great folks! ....Will somebody teach me to ride one of those bikes with big tires like Phil Cohen had You should have taken that bike for a ride.....our team mate, Phil took two or three race rounds on this crazy fun bike - the Salsa Mukluk - several people took it out for a ride and it got a lot of attention! Check out those tires - wonder how they felt going down the roots? Phil might have said....what roots?

There was another photographer there as well. Before the race he was asking about the course route and places where he could see the riders. All I know about him is that he was driving a white Sprinter van.

One of my teammates is testing his carbon 29er, so he came out to get some pics. And I think he's an amature photographer. Nice guy.

Here are a few shots I snuck in between laps. What an absolute great weekend. What an absolute great group of riders and volunteers. This was the best BD I have been involved in. There were no snobs, no selfish peeps, but just what the BD is all about: A great group of people spending 13 hours (or more) in an excellent venue. MD Registration Interesting setup, but it got him 2nd place solo! Getting set up. 1st rider in. 3rd rider in, and he was on a SS. Crossing the mat. The ROCK! It caused many issues! NW GA rider. JimmyB Game face! Getting fueled. Big wheels. Really big wheels! Lots of cow bells in that crowd!

What a great time! Of all the BDs that I have raced in, I have never been on a team where our results were so close to the team in front of us. Over 13 hours, and the 3rd place 4 person team beat us by less than 6 seconds! Wow! We rode hard, and had fun at the same time!!!
