Took the new 29er out yesterday to Skinny for the inaugural ride, and was pretty impressed. I found the handling of the 29er to be different, but nothing that I had trouble adapting to. By no means does the 29" wheels replace full suspension in that it smooths out the ride (as I have heard through a couple of sources), but it was easier to roll up and over roots and such. While I don't find the rooty/rocky spot on the top of Skinny hard on a 26er, it was nothing on a 29er. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the gearing compared to my old bike, but this one climbs like an elevator. Very nice. Also noticed that I picked up an average of 2 mph over my old bike (again, possibly because of how it's geared?) and I didn't notice any trouble "getting going" as others have reported. While this particular model came with some lower end components, I'm very impressed overall with its performance. I hope to get out shortly on some of our older trails and see how it performs

Well, I have had a 2011 Superfly 100 fall into my lap. Can't pass it up.

Dang, I must be sitting in the wrong places. I have never had something like that fall in my lap.

@ seenvic: indeed. I've had 3 experiences with 29ers that made me see they make sense (for me).
1st: 29ers dominated my first Swank race. I didn't know why.
2nd: I rode a friend's Monocog on a local trail section where I would normally spin a lot to maintain speed. With the Mono, all I had to do was spin up to speed, then coast and steer. It was a joy to ride that way!
3rd: a few hours into the Cowbell marathon a few years ago, there was a 3 or 4-stair-step feature that I either had to wheelie launch off of or boing down like a slinky. A guy on a HT 29er in front of me cruised right down it as if he was riding off a 6-inch curb. No effort or loss of momentum on his part. Big lightbulb turned on: time and energy savings galore.
It really is inspiring.

Well, I have had a 2011 Superfly 100 fall into my lap. Can't pass it up. Alright, I've been sitting outside every evening for over two weeks now, and it just must not be raining 29ers in Grovetown. Let us know what you think of the Superfly seenvic.

Superfly is nice. Been busy moving, so not alot of time to ride it.
It didn't come tubeless, which I have gotten used to riding. Having the tubes in and the higher pressure w/ tubes isn't great. I have the TLR tubeless kit on the way, but in the meantime I needed a 29er tube.
I bot one yesterday and it was $12.50 or something like that. Seems kinda wacky and certainly the last 29er tube I plan to buy for a long time. Another reason to go tubeless on top of a better ride (with tubeless).
