Here are a few poorly taken photos from this morning's Explore the Trails Series Ride at Modoc. Check out Dustin Gaddis making the rock drop creek crossing look easy! Also check out this video of Jon Taylor and Luke the Dog making it look easy! Now before Dustin and Jon made their runs through the creek crossing, here is what the scene looked like with the rest of us chickens making our way across! Nah I'm just teasing...the rest of us were smart enough to know our limitations!

You know I think I still had the lens cap on when that happened!

I don't think this vantage does justice to just how difficult this feature is. I guess it is just more intimidating when your're looking death in the eye!! LOL

From the last pic I guess we can tell what line I took across, Ha. I didn't want to see JT's first attempt anyway, as I know to was a fluke, but I would have liked to hear the audio again - now that was good stuff. J/K JT.

Hey now. I would like to see the video of that too since I have no clue what I did wrong. The bad part is I rode the rock just minutes before the ride started cause I hated to do it cold. I have never endoed on that rock before, believe it or not....... I was a little warmed up since I cut the tree at the 2.5 mile mark and did some lopping before the ride. Mark Y is right, for someone that has never been there, the challenge looks pretty tame. RH- you must not get out much if you've never seen someone do that..........

"look where you want to go, spot the landing, and stick it!" WHAM!! BAMM!!! THUD!!
"whoa...you alright?"
That was good times. I think you're taking the hardest line off that rock JT. You're dropping off the steepest part, and your front tire is coming down on an ever so slight up-hill rock. That drop is so steep, even that slight up-hill landing is enough to stop the front wheel, which is what happened to you.
But, you did a great job taking the fall - riding it all the way to the ground is the best way to avoid injury. Putting your arms out to try and catch yourself is how collar bones get broken. You did it right, tuck your chin to your chest, and roll. Let your helmet take the hit - that's what it's there for!
Also, mega props to that Cannondale Lefty "fork". It's strong.
Now - lets see the video!!
