Sat. at Horn Creek. Check the home page for details.
Who wants to ride Wine also? Ride Horn Creek, then pavel over to Wine, then pavel back to the car.
Anyone? Best guess is ~35miles total.

DG, we will ride the ETTS Saturday, but aren't able to do a longer ride. Gotta save something up for Sunday: We had planned on riding the SMC route Sunday. Our sag stops will consist of two coolers decorated with some camouflage paint. Based on comments here about stolen coolers, we want ours to "blend". Our plan is to make two stops to "tuck away" the coolers, then start the ride from the HC pavilion around 10am. It's going to be a gorgeous day, and we hope to make it back right around sunset. Planning on taking some pics for that project you and I discussed. MD

How'd your ride go MD? I was suprised Nitro and I didn't see yall yesterday.
We started at the Modoc trail about 11:15. Rode the trail, then pavel, Turkey, then pavement back to the car. Wow...I was toast. I felt great until we finished Turkey and hit the last stretch of pavement. I could tell I haven't been on the bike in WAY too long. I was stoked to crest the top of the last hill, my legs were done. Oh well, made up for lost time this weekend. 11.5 miles Saturday, and 30.6 Sunday. It was a beautiful weekend, I actually got a little sunburned.
I like Turkey better in the "backwards" direction. My favorite part, there's a good sized jump, then you curve to the right, and then there's that long bridge over nothing/skinny. Super fun. What's the story with that bridge anyways? Who put it there? I like it!
Turkey and Modoc are in fantastic shape. A few non riders here and there, but that's just part of the experience. Go ride them!

Great rides this weekend and man my legs are shot today. First time on Horne Creek, Turkey Creek and second time on Modoc -- awesome trails! It was also cool to put some distance riding on gravel/paved roads. I had forgotten what great training it is to grind out some consistent miles or so on pavel roads.
Dustin -- good job on navigating!

Those were boardwalks we built a long time ago because that area got ankle deep parts of the year. They were spaced out more, but I think the area flooded a few years back, and now they are where they ended up. It may be better than it was when we first built them as I like the way they ended up. I'd say they were built in about 1997-98 or so.

Yeah they're really fun. Kinda like a ladder bridge, but plenty wide enough, and not so high you'd die if you did manage to fall off.

DG and Nitro: We saw your tire tracks on the gravel roads. Those SB8s are very unique. We started right around 11am from the locked gates at Horn. Really enjoyed the trails, really enjoyed the pavel break between the trails. Our sag stops were at the 283 Wine entrance and the gravel entrance on Price's Mill (Robertson's Road, I believe). The Igloo coolers camouflaged with brown paint blend in VERY nicely when tucked against a pine tree 20 feet off the beaten path! I was very impressed with the trails. What a gorgeous day.

DG and Nitro: We saw your tire tracks on the gravel roads. Those SB8s are very unique. Yeah, and boy are they fast on the gravel roads! I mean, really fast. But they suck in the leaves/pine straw. The rear is okay, it'll slip climbing steep stuff if your weight isn't right, but other than that it's okay. Running it in the front however...kinda sketchy. I had several scary moments going downhill (usually directly towards a tree) when both tires would lock up under braking. Two wheel skids while clipped in = But when they've got dirt to bite into, they're awesome. Can't wait to try them out at FATS.
