The family wants to come to the BD.It depends on a couple things. 1.Can I register for the race on Sat? 2.Can we camp anywhere at Lick Fork or are we limited to the 7or 8 campsites? 1 - Yes, as long as it doesn't sell out before then. The price does go up $10 for day-of registration. 2 - We'll get back to you on that. Paul F. is meeting with the USFS next Friday, he can find out.

It is my understanding you can camp anywhere on the Long Cane RD with the proper primitive camping permit.
That said, you to get the permit you tell USFS how many, how long and where you are staying. I'd say there is a chance the permit request could be denied if in an area the USFS deems no camping there.
The permit is free.

They charge a camping fee. My understanding is that in the past as long as you paid the camping fee you could set up a tent anywhere inside Lick Fork, on a tent platform or not.

With a large degree of sadness, I am out.
I will be out of town. Tough call to make, but I gotta go somewhere.

Confirmed with the forest service: you can put a tent anywhere. I'll be camping down by the pond, come join us!

I'm signed up as a duo for this with a friend, but we'd love to have a team mate or two join us. Our plan is to have fun and not worry too much about being competitive. Anybody out there interested?
