Well, we've got 49 signed up with money on the line, and I can pretty much guarantee 16 other locals (at the least), so it will be interesting to see who makes the 150 rider limit...

So, is it going to tick people off if my teammate is a complete beginner and can't turn more than a 2hr lap? How about if I do a lap towing my kid on his trail-a-bike?
Just how informal is this in other words? I'd love to just show up and ride, but I've got family obligations that day as well. If I can make it a family affair by letting everyone participate without causing too much of a problem, then maybe I can work it out.
Let me know what you think please. I have no idea what the etiquette at a 12hr race is.

Another question; will the course be the same as it was for last years race?

Another question; will the course be the same as it was for last years race? Ha! Hi Tim. There's only one loop out there, and no one likes to do it counter clockwise that I know of, so its hard to believe there will be major changes. I do think they're going to try and make the first transition onto singletrack a bit less dicey traffic-wise.

Another question; will the course be the same as it was for last years race? Pretty much the same course. The only change will be the return route on the gravel will not be two way traffic the whole way. There are 2 sharp curves in the gravel road that produce some excitement when two riders going opposite directions don't stay on the correct side of the road. So ideally, we will scratch in a temporary route breaking off the gravel road into the transition area to ease the two way traffic in these turns. Woog- none of what you said will cause a problem for me. As far as pulling the trailer goes - I'd just be ready to pull out of the way alot. It would suck it you held riders up, IMHO.

Is it at all out of the question to do the race counter clockwise? Or, is it "Just too hard"? That's just my two cents. Most all racers are repeat competetors, seems like they'd want to mix it up a bit.

Most all racers are repeat competetors, seems like they'd want to mix it up a bit. The figure 8 wouldn't work as well. The racers would leave the parking lot and swing past it again in about 5 minutes. I think having the riders come just below the parking lot about 5-8 minutes before the end of a lap is better than just minutes into the lap. That's the main reason. As second reason is because the best climb at LF just may be the section 5 into section 1 without stopping. It is rarely done when parkin in the parking lot as folks usually stop at the car in between laps.

Not discounting your reasons at all Bill but after the 1st lap they (laps) all get jumbled and mixed up anyway and riders are all scattered out. I'd say counter-clockwise the climb that keeps everyone from casually riding the trail would be from the Boy scout bridge. Now that one will break you after 5 or 6 hours. Bring it! Just think it would be cool to mix it up a bit myself.

Just think it would be cool to mix it up a bit myself. My point had nothing to do with traffic jams at all. It only had to do with waiting for the next rider on your team. Since the course swings around so close to back of the parking lot anyway, it makes sense to me that the rider comes thru this section at the end of the lap - about 5-8 minutes before the next rider goes out. I've always thought this was a cool feature of the course. The DH in section 4 is better than going down section 3 - don't ya think? Plus I don't want to climb that false flat in section two.

Alright, I'm registered solo; couldn't talk the sweetie into a lap or two. If I get 4 laps in myself I'll be happy as I expect to spend much of my time helping entertain the kid. We'll be there for the social aspect I guess. MTBers are a sociable lot, aren't they?

It has come to my attention that Team LCT has gone the route of importing some heat to join them for the BD. It seemingly worked last year for what is now "Solo Team Sugar Britches". Is this something to be worried about??? Or will it be all show and no go??? Perhaps we'll just have to wait until the day of reckoning to find out.

Importing heat? Come on man, we are just using our trail crew!
So what if one of them won a NORBA Super D last year....

Well good luck to all of you! I was a slacker, drug my feet (or in my case pedaled my bike) and didn't get in. No worries, I'll swing by while I'm on one of my long training rides to say hello, fuel up, and head back to Augusta.
