The big tree down on tower trail Now has logs built up on each side, "pyramid" pretty much fell apart as I rode over it. Beware of riding over this the back side may not be there, Also a Semi/big tree down on big rock. If going Clock wise just after the bridge. Its ride-able but if you want to take it out its going to need a chain saw.

Because of the way the showers pop up this time of year it's often difficult to tell if an area has had rain or not (we rode Bartram West last night and the trail was bone dry but not at all dusty). Today the Great Wall had some damp areas at the start of our ride but report on Skinny was it was even drier than the Great Wall.
However towards the end of our ride a pop up (that was not even on the radar when we left the house to go ride) popped up and unleashed a torrential downpour out at FATS complete with all the appropriate sound effects from thunderstorms this time of the year. We got out as quickly as we could (took the gravel road out) but before we could get to a take out point there were streams instead of trails!

Last year rode Skinny and BW, out on BW it down poured and the trail went very slick within minutes and yes streams for trails. Half way back to the trail head the trails went bone dry and appeared no rain.

This deadfall was near the end of the Great Wall (if traveling clockwise) - it was creating a situation where riders attempting to avoid the tree were causing a breakdown at the edge of the trail that over time would erode and potentially cause more extensive rework to be done. We took it out today and then noticing a root across the trail that while not hard to ride and actually not very prominent might be circumvented by riders moving to the left (from the direction the photo was taken). We choose to leave a piece of the tree in place there to ensure riders will stay on the trail until the edge blends in a little better so if you see it and are tempted to move it just a week or two will probably be enough to keep riders centered in the trail! Great job to the Scouts and their leadership working under Paul Farrow's guidance for the blazing job on Great Wall - the red shows up well and the job was very well done!

Nice cut. Those are details that so many miss. All it takes is a tree intruding six inches to cause a new erosion area that will lead to water retention this fall and winter...

One non-rider on skinny way down near a sharp turn. Easy to walk over. Believe it is near #12 on the map posted on the site. Could be a rider if it was flat on the ground. Removed a lot of stuff off of BW and Skinny (7/26) I am always amazed at how many people go right by an area that with a little muscle could be cleared.

Rode Big Rock and Tower last evening. The trail was fine but 5 or 6 non riders out there that need to be sawed. Any chance of getting a crew out there anytime soon.

Thanks so much for the update - it helps to know when there are trees down on the trail! It will get added to the list but not sure how quickly they will make it out there. This is just general information for anyone who might read this message. We have about half a dozen USFS certified sawyers (trained volunteers) and to be honest the storms since January have kept these volunteers extremely busy on all the trails. Unfortunately we are not getting enough regular volunteers on our monthly work parties and other work parties and we've had to rely on some of these same sawyers to come out and work those work parties as well. It would be great to have some additional volunteers for the work parties that don't require a sawyer so we can save the sawyers for keeping the trails cleared after all these thunderstorms! You don't have to be a member of SORBA to come out and volunteer, we can use and very much appreciate all the help we can get! We will take dog walkers, hikers, runners, hunters, etc as well

On the way out to Brown Wave last night realized that a four-wheeler has been back out on upper Skinny at some point since the last rain. Damage seemed confined to corners.
Keep your eyes open when you are out there and report anything that seems suspicious - the more information we can report the better - best of course would be license plate of a vehicle involved with the four wheeler!

2 large non riders on Tower. Middle of biggest climb if going CCW. Below the gaslines.

noticed a four wheeler has been back out on Skinny. Damage is minimal, and appears to be pretty fresh.

A pretty wide 'ride around' has developed on Tower trail

That ride around is wider than what the 4 wheeler did to Skinny.
I stepped over that logged about a week ago.
The ride around was there.
I don't take ride arounds.
If I did, I would be part of the problem.
Like the four wheeler.
And folks who take the ride arounds.
And then come on here and complain that a 4 wheeler has been on the trails.

I stepped over as well. It looks like people are coming into this section hot and then skidding into the ride around in order to make the turn.

Where is the tree on tower? What is the easiest way to access it on foot?
