We did a reconnaissance ride up at the Bartram Lake Trail this afternoon - given that we had 4 1/2 inches over the past week the last 1 1/2 on Thursday wanted to see what the condition of the trail was like. Trees and the start of the growing season has a huge effect on how quickly the trails can be ridden after rain.
New Bartram was very wet still and we rode in a short distance to see how things looked - it was definitely too wet to ride. Appears that it will take the sun and wind scheduled for today and tomorrow plus another day or so before the New Bartram is ready to ride.
Old Bartram fared much better - there were definitely some wet spots (some I've never seen before) but the majority of the trail was in good condition. Needs another day of sun and wind and it will probably be ready to go - if enough wind hit it today, more scheduled tomorrow probably be pretty good by Sunday afternoon. I suspect there might be a couple of juicy spots left that might need some trail work to drain properly. Once the water table gets high... ground seepage becomes more of an issue.
