looking up the trail nice view Is Turkey creek the prettiest trail in the CSRA?? Shortly after taking these shots my chain began to skip like crazy. It had a twisted link, So out comes the chain tool, after removing the offending links while trying to put it back together I dropped the pin in the leaves AHHHHhhh crap can't find it. So off comes another piece and this time I get it back together. The drive train does not like the shortened chain but works ok in middle chain ring mid cassette down. I make it out to the turn around on the fire road and start back toward Key bridge, everything is wonderful, the flow is good ;D, but then nearing the board walk section I forget my chain dilemma and push into a big ring. Whoops shit! derailleur is pulled way forward and the cage makes a terrible noise at it rubs the spokes and then the Chain breaks in two places, at my repair and at quick link. I figure it will take me as long to fix as would to walk and who knows if the repair will last, The hike begins. With all this extra, low speed time on turkey creek, I get a deep sense of what a beautiful trail this is BUT is it the Prettiest trail in the CSRA? ??

I've always thought the northern sections of Wine Creek were stellar.
Hard to say which is best. All are pretty damn good.
Get that thing fixed by Sunday!

I prefer the scenery on the old school trails way more than the new stuff. Northern section of wine is awesome along with boulder creek on Keg are some of my favorite scenery sections of trail.
cool shots.

on top of the hill at boulder creek is awesome too, Guess I will have to get out to keg and rethink my assessment.
No worries BV, I went straight to the shop and got a new chain, Jimmy threw it on straight away for me and trued the rear tire, last week they replaced the suspension bearings and bolts.I am good to go.

The canal trail is actually really really pretty in the spring. There's about a two week period where it's just awesome out there. Right as the green is starting to return to all the plants, the ground gets covered in a low lying, very bright green grass and fern type plants. So you have this carpet of green with a dark brown ribbon of singletrack flowing through it...it's great! Kind of like this, except more green on the ground: But then the trees fill out, and everything does to, and the trail ends up inside a tunnel of vegetation until winter.

Love the bike, a light aluminum frame is way cheaper than a carbon bike. So the bike comes speced a little nicer for = money. and its still no pig its just under 25 lbs(24.6). The lefty is awesome and has worked up till now flawlessly. I initially found the cock pit cramped but I was used to a more laid out cx rider position, and it felt weird at first to sit so upright, I rotated the riser bar forward as to rise away from me and this stretched out the position for me. I hated the seat that came with the bike and swapped it for the one the last bike. 120mm of travel is over the top for around here, I usually ride with fox rp23 "locked" in the #3 position. Although there is very little 'bob' in the fully open position as well. The bike responds well the geometry isn't quite a quick as was my old bike but I still can 'flick it' through tight stuff ok. This bike climbs way better than the proflex did moving from elastemer shocks to the fox was a quantum leap in technology. The rear wheel stays planted. All in all the bike is great, and I think its a decent value especially if you look at the weight and spec of comparatively priced carbon bikes. The torque bolts on the suspension need to be checked every ride, even with lock tight they seem to loosen up?? And it came with Schwalbe racing ralphs, I am done with these tires the side walls are paper thin and prone to puncture or tearing. The saving grace being STAN"s sealant GREAT GREAT product. The dt swiss rims are bullet proof, although all the decals came off in just a few weeks. The bike loves to fly and catching air becomes effortless although deep step has reminded me to not get cocky with a few brilliant wipe outs. WOW sorry for such a long response pounding down the second mug of java got me going. LOVE THE BIKE.

Keg Creek was beautiful this past Sunday. My son took a great pic of Boulder Creek with his phone- I just have to figure out how to get it on here. Came close to leaving the trail a couple times due to all the leaves covering the track - but the leaves on the ground made it alot nicer.

Yeah me to I rode right in to the woods a few times the forest floor is a complete brown out with all the leaf litter down. Scroll down to the bottom of this forum and you will see a thread " how to post pics" Its pretty easy.

I have the 140 which is very forgiving, but I have always wondered about the the 120. You haven't helped ;D Really interesting to hear you don't need more than 120mm. Anyway, stop trying to talk me into buying another bike! P.S. Send me PM if you look at selling
