Rode Mistletoe this morning. Creek crossings are very low water so you won't get your feet wet. Several spots where big trees are down but easy step over. Trail is in pretty good shape for not getting much attention. Y'all need to ride this trail- gnarliest trail in town.

set new flagging on connector today and cleared limbs and debris on East side of Rock Dam. Couple of trees down on connector - think all we saw on East RD were riders except a big mess on Rock Dam creek (North end). There's a steep drop down to the creek which may be rideable going CCW. This will need a chain saw to clear.
From Ridge Rd connector, toward the end of the woods road on the left you will see lots of fresh orange paint on trees and pink flagging. The line of painted trees follows the contour overlooking the creek basin where trail connector creek crossing on bedrock is. The line intersects the woods rd right about where you turn off onto singletrack - could be a bit confusing if you've never been there. That pink flagging has "Timber Harvest" printed on it. My flags are plain. Talked the COE forester who was there. A timber harvest is planned for 2012.

Dale, the tree down across the creek if I recall was had its large trunk going form bank to bank with another sticking down into the creek. Is there enough head room to ride under the larger trunk?
I didn't ride the steep side down.

That's the tree - needs to be cut on both sides of the short loop. No can't be ridden. But soon as I heal up, I'll haul the saw in - will ask for a helper as it's a pretty big job but not too tough to get to it.
Yeah, the short cut down the creek bank is really steep.

Been looking for somebody to show me some of Mistletoe anyway. For that matter, when you are well enough to just ride, we'll go. I can cut and I will drag my son along to help.

Definitly the most technical trail in the area. Reminds me of the Tower before FATS was built.

Rode Mistletoe today and there are a whole bunch of very large trees down, and they are new since the ETTR on 10/17/10. Most, if not all, of the big trees are on the Northern section between the Ranger Station and the back door entrance.
If someone is willing to go out with their chain saw, I'm willing to help.

Dale P. you are the man. The connector was perfect. Never seen anything like that before. Mistletoe and Keg were just outstanding today. Beautiful views, great singletrack and numerous creek crossings make for a great day on the bike. That off camber hillside root and rock section on Mistletoe makes me smile every time I ride it. Sweet stuff.

Dale P. you are the man. The connector was perfect. +1000 Yesterday's ride was amazing. The Christmas Party ride, I think, is the best mtn bike ride in the CSRA. 25.76miles, 12 creek crossings (12!!!!!!!!!!), roots, rocks, fast and flowy sections, tight and twisty sections, scenery, it's got it all. A great, great, great ride. Next time we do it I'll post it on the forum so anyone that wants to join in can. It's an awesome ride.

As Keg Creek gets more traffic, it gets better. Mtoe is a sleeping giant of fun with a technical edge to it. The 3.5 mile paved hump in the middle of the trails is just long enough to be over about the time it needs to be over. Having the connector part blown off yesterday was a big help. I owe Dale P a beer next time I see him at SORBA meeting. Once you come off the double track, the length of the single before you cross the creek is surprisingly long. We went CCW on Mtoe and that was first for me. That means we went down the off camber and down the gully. The off camber is awesome.
