Rode the Canal Trail this afternoon, there is a new tree downs about 300 yard from the trail head go CW. Will need a chainsaw to remove. I might be able to get it late Sunday or the first part of next week unless someone gets to it 1st. The rest of the trail is in good shape.

I cut the tree out this afternoon. I talked to a rider that had just made a lap and he told me about another tree down. I went to cut it out but when I saw it, I decided real quick it is way more than I can handle. This tree is about 1/2-3/4 mile in going CW. It's a big tree with the limbs in the trail. There are a lot of limbs under pressure and I don't have the knowledge or expertise to remove this tree by myself. I cleaned out the walk around that had already formed. If someone with chainsaw knowledge wants to cut the tree out, I will be glad to help. Any other volunteers?

John, two others and myself went in yesterday with intentions of taking it out but quickly came to the conclusion you did, this is a MESS. It will take a full size saw and 2-3 swampers to clean this one up. Just have to bite it off one limb at a time, starting at the top end and working back. We did hang a piece of tape on the trailhead side where the walkaround is to try and direct people a little bit.

Let me know if someone's gonna try to get down there and I'll try to join, don't know if I can get my hands on the saws anytime soon, but more than willing to lend a hand or saw expertise.

Me and the g/f rode the trail earlier, I saw the tree/trees that are down, I might be able to get a couple saws this weekend at the earliest, but I'd want someone with me just for safety before I tackle it.

HEADS UP! I got a nasty case of poison ivy/oak/sumac from riding there last week. I went under the first tree a few times before the second tree fell. I am pretty sure that is the area I got infected so be aware of it it you plan to go out there and know you are allergic.
