I carry sports drink (Accelerade) in a water bottle and reserve my hydration pack for water. For a summertime ride I pour a couple of glasses of ice cubes into the bladder and then top off with cold water from the refrigerator.
At the end of the day I drain any remaining water from the bladder and then blow on the tube to empty it as well. I have a Deuter pack and opening at the top of its bladder is large enough for me to reach in (with a clean hand) and dry out the inside with a paper towel. I then insert a spreader made from a clothes hanger into the bladder and hang it upside down to dry. Been doing that for years and have never experienced a single problem.
I actually have two packs made by Deuter, a Race X Air II and a larger Hydra Lite 3.0 for longer rides. Both have 3-liter bladders but the latter holds more stuff for epic rides. Both also have the optional Thermo Bag liner for the bladder which keeps ice water cold regardless of how hot the day might be. It and an insulated cover for the drinking tube also keeps water from freezing during winter. I used it when mountain-biking on the Idatarod trail in Alaska at subzero temps.
