Watched the video.
$80,000 for 9.6 miles of professionally built trail is a DEAL! Hell, I know the builder lost money building it. Broke even at best.
I think the TV people don't realize this. Not sure why they even made it an issue....as they came across as pretty dumb to me.

But to Joe Public, a trail is just a path through the woods. How much could that really cost I realize this. I guess I am railing against this exact thing. The ignorant informing the even more ignorant. The media is an important part of our society. They should be well informed or not report on issues in which they are not well informed. In this case, channel 12 reported something on which they are not well informed and have perpetuated their ignorance onto others. This should have been a fluff piece of news. Something to feel good about. Folks out exercising with friend and families. I wish they had interviewed me. Let me tell you what happened about 10 years ago at Baker Creek. Reporter shows up with this exact angle....wasting money on bike trails. It took me about 5 minutes to totally change his view. He wrote a piece about the health benefits of our trail, the volunteerism that went into building it and never once mentioned or insinuated that this was a waste of money. Not arguing with you. Rant over.

Yeah, I wasn't arguing with you either (hope it didn't come across that way). I remember you telling me about the reporter at Baker Creek lol.

$80,000 $80,000 Still a lot of money no matter how big the font. If I owed it to you and had to come up with it tomorrow, it is alot of money to me. For a used car, it is alot of money. To get done what I just did to my house .....alot of money. But for 9.6 miles of trail? It is not alot of money. That's my point. What is yours?

Yeah, all the guys I work with picked up on the $80,000 part of the video. Very typical for a group of fat people that grab a gun and some dawgs and head out in them thar woods. They also like to rib me because I wear "clippety-cloppety" shoes, wear that spandex stuff and a plastic helmet. It's all in good humor. I thought the $80,000 part was brought up in the video where it had no place, but I also thought they left it alone afterwards. We are drilling it more than they did. MD

That's my point. What is yours? Not arguing the price. Did they have to use such a big font when they said $80,000

Why not invite them to the trails to tell our side of the story.. It might be worth it to call the reporter and tell him you liked his story, but wanted to show him how that $80K was used and the benefits it creates for EVERYONE in the general public. I mean THEY choose to sit on their fat asses and watch TV.. The trail is there for everyone to use.. Hmm, wonder how much a campsite cost to maintain? What about those that are on welfare and don't do jack? I mean, we all work, pay taxes AND VOLUNTEER our time to help maintain those trails!

I imagine they would be astounded at the amount of volunteer labor that goes into keeping the trails usable for all. If that work was being hired out, $80,000 would seem a pittance.
