Rode part of the Bartram Lake Trail today starting at the Petersburg trail head. Although it usually drains well, this trail is very wet. I suspect it will stay wet longer this time since the lake level is so elevated after the recent rains. It may be another week of dry weather before things imrove.
It was mostly an exercise in carrying my bike across a lot of standing water puddles. I cleared several drains for the places where the water is puddling to help evacuate the water.
Near the bridge, a small sink hole (~24" diameter - 12" deep) has formed in the middle of the trail bed and from the looks of the tire tracks and skid marks, a few have endo'ed over it. I took a picture of it to post later.
Although there is quite a bit of debris washed up against the bridge, it's held its place and is in pretty good shape. The armouring that is in place is definitely needed and appreciated, but more could be used in some other places.
Encountered quite a few folks not wearing orange...one not wearing a helmet. I asked if they were aware that it is hunting season. A few were, others were not. Apparently they didn't see the orange signs posted at the trail head. So I suggested they might want to wear it just to be on the safe side during hunting season.
Be safe!

I hit that sink hole just before the bridge. hard hit but no endo . Keep your eyes out for it. I removed a bunch of debri off the 1st bridge this morning. I have a feeling the water was flowing over it this week. I never saw that lake so high. The news reported it was 2.5 feet above full basin. I was out there from 9 to 11 and every rider (6 of them) and 3 out of the 5 trail runners had orange on. Parked over at Lake Springs.

took my 7 yr old grandson out this afternoon. Like John, I've never seen so much water on this trail. I didn't see this sinkhole near the bridge (assume the one w/ handrails. But the trail descending to it had some definite erosion from recent rain but had no trouble either way.

Great trail in awesome condition. We hit it several times this weekend as we were camped there. Rode both sides, and enjoyed them both.
Love the reroutes.
Lots of fun.
