Anyone interested in riding Mistletoe this weekend?
Sunday afternoon, say, 2:00?
I plan to bring my camera to get more pictures for the new site.

I just might be up for that ride Dustin. I'm curious after reading about all the fun Brian Williams had on that trail. I'll let you know later in the week for sure.

I would like to join in as well. It has been many years since I have been to Mistletoe's trails. Where do you plan to meet or start in the park?

I may join as well. Haven't been there in close to 10 years. May ride over from Keg Creek if I can figure it out and time it well.

How about we meet at the main parking lot?
FYI - it costs $5 to park at GA State Parks now. I have an annual pass. If anyone is interested in car pooling, let me know.

Hey Dale! Please tell us how to ride from Keg Creek to Mistletoe....again.
Didn't you post that some time ago somewhere on here? I searched for it, but didn't find it. If so, please point me in that direction.

Bill - couldn't find the earlier directions either.
If you start at the North KC trailhead and ride CCW you will come to what we call Boulder Creek. Cross this and go up a fairly steep incline - this is part of a major re-route of a couple of years ago and this part is on a 4 wheeler track. Near the top, the yellow-blazed KC turns left. You want to continue straight following white blazes. After a bit you will pop out onto a woods road - go left here and follow till you come out into Keg Pointe II subdivision onto a paved street. To the left is a gravel cul-de-sac. Turn right onto this street and then turn left at T intersection. Turn right at next T intersection and then turn left at next T - this is Eubanks Rd. Turn right at next T onto Ray Owens Rd and then turn left onto Ridge Rd. Follow Ridge until it turns into gravel. (total pavement is a bit less than 3 miles) Just stay to the left on the gravel / dirt, going around a white metal gate and follow this woods rd mostly downhill. Near the bottom there should be an obvious pink flagged singletrack taking off to the left. (the woods rd starting at the pavement to the singletrack is a little short of a mile). Follow the ST for about 0.4 mi until it intersects with the blue-blazed Rock Dam Trail. Probably not a large difference in mileage to the paved road in Mistletoe S.P. going either left or right at this point but looking at the map, it appears that going right, CCW, may be a bit shorter.

I'm going to join you guys at Keg and ride to Mistletoe.

I am going to push hard to do this. I'd want to ride Keg CW, though. Isn't it better that way?
If we started at noon at Keg, would be in Mistletoe by 2?
Dustin - what time can you start?
I can start whenever you want to.
Robert F - You are in. I'll bring the hat I got for your co-worker.
I plan to GPS the route, so my plan is to ride all of Keg Creek and whatever needs to mapped in Mistletoe (if I got the legs for it).

I'm game for starting whenever. Noon sounds good to me.
Keg is better CW, though that's the long way around to the connector to Mistletoe. I'm game to ride it that way though.

DALE - check your private messages...I got a question for you For everyone just wanting to ride Mistletoe, how about meeting at the parking area on Ridge Road? Two reasons for this: It'll be easier to predict what time the rest of us will get there, and it'll save you the $5 parking fee at Mistletoe. To get to the parking area, turn onto Ridge Road from Washington. Pavement will end, follow the dirt road approx 0.4 miles to the parking area. If we start the ride at Keg at noon, we should be at that parking area by 1:30 or so I think. Just got back from a scouting trip. Here's directions from Keg to Mistletoe, starting when you get out of the woods: RIGHT onto Sentinel Lane, ride ~0.18 miles LEFT onto Reservoir Road, ride ~0.17 miles RIGHT onto Wickham Trail, ride ~0.14 miles LEFT onto Eubank Drive, ride ~0.47 miles RIGHT onto Ray Owens Road, ride ~0.88 miles LEFT onto Ridge Road, ride ~2.3 miles Singletrack will be on the left, look for pink flagging Here's a map of the connector and here's a map of the Rock Dam Trail (pdf)I called the park, and they have water fountains and gatorade vending machines we can use to refill our packs if need be before heading back to Keg. AND DONT FORGET TO WEAR ORANGE - IT'S HUNTING SEASON

Everyone planning on joining the ride, please post on here before 11:00am tomorrow. Let me know where you're going to meet us (at Keg, or on Ridge Road at the backside of Mistletoe)
If we don't know you're coming, we ain't gonna wait on you!

Me and Robert F are going to be at South end of Keg Creek at 11:45 AM to hopefully be ready to ride at noon.
Ride Keg to Mistletoe, a lap of whatever Mistletoe has to offer and back to Keg. Finish loop of Keg and return to car by riding over bridge.
If Mistletoe is 7 miles. then the whole thing should be about 23 miles.

Awesome ride today, despite getting a little lost, confused, and Bill V. breaking a spoke. Longest ride I've been on since the SMC. Added about 5 miles to the ride trying to find the back entrance to the Rock Dam trail, total mileage came in at 29.56. On to pics, all of them taken at Mistletoe: Bill V. making sure to get his front wheel to the dry, grippy rock Me wheelie-dropping onto the rock Bill V. The rock dam is in the background. Plenty of good scenery on this trail John P. punches it up a creek crossing exit Bill V. dropping into Devil's Gorge Robert F. carefully picking his line down Devil's Gorge John P. had to dab in the gorge...no shame in that, I've never cleared the whole thing either

Dustin,
The ride down the gully is not "Devil's Gorge", that is a very deep gorge you look down after a river crossing/steep up hill ccw. The gully on the state trail map is not mentioned. When describing the gully to a fellow rider (from UT) I compared it to a slot canyon.
Did you ride ccw or cw? Looked like at rock dam the pic was cw and the "slot" gully was ccw.

Dustin, The ride down the gully is not "Devil's Gorge", that is a very deep gorge you look down after a river crossing/steep up hill ccw. The gully on the state trail map is not mentioned. When describing the gully to a fellow rider (from UT) I compared it to a slot canyon. Did you ride ccw or cw? Looked like at rock dam the pic was cw and the "slot" gully was ccw. We rode CW. When we got to the gully we actually rode up it, not down. But once at the top, we took a run down. Knowing now that Devil's Gorge is not that gully makes a lot of sense...I couldn't figure out how we went CW on the trail and hit the rock dam before hitting the gully. I'm not exactly sure on mileage back to Keg, but I think it's a little over 3 miles from the singletrack at Mistletoe to that woods road leading into Keg. Bill said we should call this the Christmas Party ride haha
