Cut out the big pine tree near the airstrip. However, there is one tree down near west end of the extension and 2 trees down on Lake Spring Trail. Plan to get them next weekend. I recently got a note from COE stating that they were considering closing the cut through trails in the Lake Springs area due to non or little use. Yesterday, they had the Lake Springs trail roped off where it diverges from Bartram just beyond the Lake Springs Road. I cruised back up to the gate at the road and then took the Lake Springs trail down that side, parallel to the road. They had the trail roped off near the bottom and a new trail (open) that essentially cut off that whole bottom of the loop. I routinely ride that stretch when riding back from West Dam and take in the Lake Springs / Possum Trot loop. And I know that Jon Taylor rides that frequently as well. Anybody else??? Also noted: on the Extension, I see where COE has put in some re-routes that will take out the fun little dips in the 2nd half close to the water. Also noted: someone (COE???) replaced the planks on the narrow bridge with longer planks. Only one problem: the planks are jammed up against one another so that water will not drain as easily. That will eventually promote a slippery surface - particularly as no hardware cloth was used.

DP, we routinely ride that little "lower loop", or as I like to call it: The Teardrop". Standing at the Lake Springs Rd, I have always envisioned that as a teardrop. Like you, we use that to get to the other loops, which we also routinely ride.
Now, what I will admit to, is not riding the middle paths on the loops. Paul showed my several years ago that if you just keep going "right" while in the loops, you get a fun little approx. 2 mile loop. It is a lot of fun.
We may be camping there this coming weekend. Will give you a shout.

The 2 cut-thru loops I have ridden in the past and did not really care for them. Overgrown if I re-call. As for the other loops, blue loop (tear drop) and red loop I ride them almost every time I ride Bartram. Very fun.
