The third race of the Canal Crown Time Trial Series was held last night at the Augusta Canal Singletrack. The crowd just keeps getting bigger and bigger and with it, the excitement level is too!
The first race held July 2nd had 10 racers and a handfull of spectators. The second race held July 23rd had 15 racers and still more spectators. The third race held last night had 21 racers and almost as many spectators! It's great to see people whose age ranges from 4 to over 60 having such a good time. I can't wait to see how big the race will be on August 27th!
Many thanks to the crew whose hard work keeps the Canal trail in such good shape. It's fun and FAST! There are sections that have tight turns, large sweeping curves you can really cut into, and some flat spots where you can get on a big gear and haul the mail! There aren't any climbs to worry you. So if you haven't ever ridden this trail, go ride it. If you haven't ridden it in awhile, go ride it! Just remember to go CCW on even number days and CW on odd number days and you'll be okay!
Last but certainly not least...many thanks to Drew Jordan, Dustin Gaddis, and crew of volunteers for putting on this little shindig (that's cool/rad/bomb event for you younger types)! Your hard work and dedication have made this another fun event people can enjoy whether they are racing flat out, cheering on the racers as spectators or fellow racers, watching the activities, or just relaxing enjoying conversation with fellow bike riders.
I hope this becomes an annual event if not held more times throughout the year. Wouldn't it be great if we had to install bleachers for all the spectators and a pit area for the racers and their bikes??!! Well maybe not...but it's great to see how much this TT series has grown in a short time.
Congratulations Andy Jordan's Bicycle Warehouse and SORBA-CSRA!!!
