In spite of how hot it's getting outside, we've got some pretty cool events taking place this summer!!
Ladies Beginner Skills Clinic--June 28, 2009
The clinic will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the Lick Fork Recreation Area. We will work on balance, braking, cornering, and going over small obstacles. The clinic will be limited to 20 participants, so if you want to get on the list, email barbara.drawdy@comcast.net.
Directions:
From interstate 20, just across the border into SC, take exit 1. This is Martintown road/SC230. Go north about 17 miles and you will see a sign for Lick Fork Recreation Area. Turn right, go about 2 miles, and you turn into the recreation area (if the pavement turns to gravel and you see a sign for "bike crossing," you went too far and missed the turn into Lick Fork). Go to the pay kiosk; it will cost $3 for parking. After the kiosk, turn left onto the gravel road and go through the campground until you get to the cul de sac at the boat ramp. That is where we will be setting up for the skills clinic. We will spend a couple hours going over some skills, and then ride the trail. It is a 6 mile loop.
The next Ladies Ride --July 12, 2009
We will meet at the Petersburg Campground end of the Bartram Trail at 9:00 a.m.
Directions:
From Augusta take Washington Road to Pollards Corner and Turn right on Hwy 221. Follow Hwy 221 for a few miles and turn left at the Petersburg Campground sign. Look for trail head parking on right before entering campground.
If you have any questions, email Barbara at barbara.drawdy@comcast.net.
SORBA-CSRA Chapter Monthly Meeting--July 14, 2009
Meet upstairs at Nacho Mama's near the corner of 10th and Broad Streets downtown Augusta at 7:30pm. Come early if you'd like to eat before the meeting. Catch up on the latest news concerning trails, events, and more.
The Canal Crown Time Trail Series --July 2 & 23 + August 6 & 27, 2009
Do you have what it takes to be crowned King/Queen of the Canal MTB Trail? It's just you against the clock in this 4 race time trial series. You'll have to give it all you've got for one grueling 3 mile lap where riding with speed and precision can be the difference in 1st and 2nd place. Get ready to set the canal woods on fire! (Not literally). This time trail series is being sponsored by Andy Jordan Bicycle Warehouse and SORBA-CSRA. Go to the below link for more info: andyjordans.com/page.cfm?pageId=257
