Would you please post your SORBA website stating that the Horn Creek trail will be temporary closed from Wednesday June 10, 2009, through Friday the 12th. This is a warm season burn with objectives for the prescribed management of that area by the Horn Creek trail. One of the burning objectives is to control the brushy undergrowth so that the grass plant community can become better established. We have many weather conditions that must be met before we can burn so our window of opportunity is extremely limited this time of year, however based upon current and projected forecast it appears we have a window. The short notice is due to the fact that this is all based upon current weather conditions and as you know with weather you can only project atmospheric conditions so far in advance. We will be posting signs and flagging off the area to warn the public. Thank you,

Rode Horn Creek on Sunday and it was in good shape, only 2 trees down, one in section 2 with the trunk broken off about a foot after it crosses the trail (already forming a ride around) and one just below the park trail head in section 5. Maybe the burn will take care of them - we'll see. Other than those downed trees, the trail was a little over grown due to the logging activity opening the tree canopy, sounds like the burn should help w/ this. Only hope the bridges survive.
