Thanks to Jimmy C, and Drew for helping out.. The trees are gone and the trail is clear.. Took us about an hour and as usual, it was an adventure kinda trip.. Big ants followed by a HUGE turtle that I think I Jimmy had've gotten a little closer would've bit him good.. It was all fun and very successful.. Thanks to all of you that offered your services, but for now we're good and I hope it stays that way for a while.. ;D

Oops. Saw this after I posted on the other thread. Just keep it in mind I can help clear if it comes up again.

Someone told me last night that a section of the Canal Trail had "fallen into the river" and he almost fell into the river riding the trail.
Any comment on this from a Canal regular?

That is true, that section of the trail is essentially history.. I don't know how it can be fixed or rerouted.. I've always focused (and anyone that rides any of the trail should quickly be able to see that that section hasn't been maintained) on the main trail itself.. I went down there the other day to see what would need to be done, and it's a little over my head.. I can manage what I got now, but add that section and it's a little too much.. Other than that section, and the trail is in great shape.. ;D

Is it the section that has the old coke cooler?

Big ants followed by a HUGE turtle that I think I Jimmy had've gotten a little closer would've bit him good.. Rode the trail today forthe first time in a while and man am I glad the tress are gone! Makes a BIG difference. ;D I did move 1 little turtle off the trail and left 2 others alone. One of them was ~12" across. I got my first flat on that trail after coming back down under the bridge by the Lake Olmstead side entrance after I watched a few people on the Lock to Lock ride while taking a quick breather. Fun little trail.
