Once Daylight Savings begins, would anyone be interested in doing a ride at the Canal singletrack on Wednesdays (starting 3/11)? We could meet at the shop (AJBW) and ride to the trail for a couple loops. Dirt road total would be around 6 miles, plus however many loops we do on the trail. Let me know.

Plan on meeting around 6p and we'll try to roll out around 6:15p. Should give us enough daylight to get a couple loops in. Also, weather permitting, we're going to the dirt jumps Sunday if you wanna sling some dirt. Hopefully it will be wet enough to work, but dry enough to ride. Gimme a holler.
btw...I remember you saying something about wanting a place to build some ladder bridge type stuff. There's a small patch of woods at the dirt jumps with a small ravine if you want to check it out. Might be some way to get a couple small jumps to link it up. We're pretty much out of dirt so I don't think we'll be doing any major expansion in that direction. Let me know how much space you need and we'll see if we can mark it.

I was out at the canal trail Saturday. It appears to be completely blocked off from both directions due to construction! On the south side, they have have fenced in the overflow parking area. Maybe there is a backdoor way if you ride the railroad tracks?

Yes, there is a back door. Where the road loops around the canal overflow "park", there is the south entrance, immediately to the left of the creek and across the tracks. If you are on the road in a car you will loop around that park and bear hard left to continue towards the pump house. Where you bear left, the trail entance is straight ahead of you, across the railroad tracks. It goes into the woods a little way, then under Riverwatch. Stay on it and it will loop around behind the ponds and connect you up with the main trail.

Thanks Mark. I checked a google satellite map of the area and I think I see what you are talking about.
So, for everyone out there thinking about riding the canal trail -- you can NOT get there from the head gates or the Eisenhower park entrance. Bummer! I can't ride from house until they open these back up.

yo drew, i came out to the track yesterday around 4 and waited around for awhile. nobody else ever showed, so i ended up driving up to greenwood to ride the stuff that matt has built at his house. skinnies, drops, log rides. the place is just SICK, he's only 2 months or so into the project and he's got ALOT more planned for the place. wall rides, dirt jumps, a lake kicker and some other stuff. definitely worth the ride up there.
oh and i will be there for the ride wednesday.
holla

I got a late start due to some yardwork at the house. We must have just missed you. It was way too windy to ride so we went downtown for a street sesh. Sounds like you had fun nonetheless. I'll talk to you Wednesday.

Crap. I'm out for Weds. night.
Today I'm at home, installing new cranks, a new XT rear derailleur, reinstalling the OEM narrower flat bar, looking forward to getting out to ride Weds night, and the Boss Man calls. Now I'm heading up to Spartanburg tomorrow.
Super lame.

It's gonna be on tomorrow night. I think mosovich aka " The One Man Canal Cleanup Crew" is gonna ride, not work, and dgaddis is gonna come out to shred. There are usually a few others as well. Should be a good night to ride!
